In this new episode of Lyme and Beyond with Tanya, we welcome Kris Newby, an award-winning medical science writer and the senior producer of the Lyme disease documentary UNDER OUR SKIN, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was a 2010 Oscar semifinalist. Her book BITTEN won three international book awards for journalism and narrative nonfiction. She has two engineering degrees and has worked as a science/technology writer for Stanford Medical School, Apple, and other Silicon Valley companies.
 
Today we delve into Newby's personal and professional journey battling Lyme disease alongside her husband after contracting it on Martha's Vineyard. Newby shares the intricacies of their symptoms, the misdiagnoses they faced, and their eventual diagnosis and treatment with the help of a Lyme-literate doctor. We discuss the broader controversies surrounding Lyme disease, including its potential ties to biological weapons research, highlighted in her book and her documentary.
